A week ago, my husband and I, both in our 60s, returned from our long-awaited vacation. It was the first time it had been just the two of us since we became grandparents. We felt a renewed sense of love and connection, enjoying every moment together. Each day we woke up at 7 a.m., instead of at 5, indulged in plenty of seafood, and took long, leisurely walks on the beach.
One memorable afternoon, we paused during our walk and kissed each other. A young woman nearby captured the moment and showed us the picture. It was so beautiful that it brought tears to my eyes.
When we returned home, I shared the photo on Facebook. To my shock, my daughter-in-law commented, “How does she even feel comfortable showing her wrinkled body in a swimsuit?! Moreover, her kissing her husband at their age is inappropriate.”
I was stunned. I took a screenshot of her comment, but it was soon deleted — clearly, she had meant to send it privately. I knew I had to address this behavior firmly.
So, I decided to respond publicly to make a point. I posted a new message on my Facebook:

“To those who might think it inappropriate for a woman in her 60s to wear a swimsuit and share a kiss with her husband: Love knows no age. Every wrinkle is a testament to the life we’ve lived, the love we’ve shared, and the memories we’ve created. I’m proud of my body, my love, and my life. Criticism won’t diminish the joy we feel or the memories we make. Let’s celebrate love in all its forms and ages.”
The response from friends and family was overwhelmingly supportive. It was a reminder that love, confidence, and joy should never be dictated by age or societal expectations.
