Giuffre said in an Instagram post that she was experiencing renal failure and had four days to live following a school bus crash
Virginia Giuffre’s family released a statement following her Instagram post in which she claimed she had “four days to live” due to injuries sustained in a vehicle crash.
Giuffre, who has accused Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew of sexual abuse, posted that she had been in a car crash with a school bus, which caused renal failure. Included in the post was a photo of her bruised face.
In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, Giuffre’s family said she had meant to make the post on a private social media account.
“Virginia thanks everyone for the outpouring of love and support,” the statement said. “She is overwhelmed with gratitude. Today she remains in serious condition while receiving medical care.”

“On March 24, in rural Western Australia, a school bus hit the car in which she was riding,” the statement continued. “The police were called but said that there was no one available to come to the scene. They asked if anyone was injured and suggested that if they were, they should make their way to the hospital.”

Giuffre’s family went on to say that the school bus driver had a bus full of “distraught children” and left the scene before later filing a police report, and that Giuffre was bruised and returned home.
“Virginia’s condition worsened and she was admitted to the hospital,” her family said. “Concerning her Instagram post, Virginia thought that she had posted on her private Facebook page. Virginia and her family thank everyone for their concern.”
The statement comes after Western Australia Police told PEOPLE that a crash had been reported 12 miles north of Perth and involved a bus and a car. Police described the crash as “minor” and said there were “no reported injuries.”
Giuffre has said she was sex trafficked by Epstein after being recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a prison sentence following a sex trafficking conviction. Epstein died by suicide in jail in 2019.
Giuffre has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Prince Andrew as a teenager, a claim he has denied. She and Andrew reach an out-of-court settlement in 2022 after she filed suit the year prior.
