Wang’s look came complete with a plunging gown, sunglasses and some baby-bang action
Vera Wang pulled up to the 2025 Met Gala looking almost unrecognizable with a new hairstyle and some oversize sunglasses

The renowned designer, 75, walked her way up the steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, May 5 for the 2025 Met Gala with some new hair, a pair of cool sunglasses and super-sexy gown that showed skin from all angles. The fashion industry mainstay’s baby bangs were one the biggest surprise hair changes of the night.
Wang’s company identified the designer’s custom Vera Wang Haute look as a light ivory Italian cupro jersey draped gown featuring a low cowl neckline, a grey feather appliquéd skirt and some black feather lapels.
During the outing, Wang was joined by Keke Palmer — whose look she also designed.
The fashionable display comes less than three months after Wang’s jaw-dropping red carpet moment at the 2025 BAFTA Awards in London, when she debuted a shorter cut and similarly kept the sunglasses on for red-carpet snaps.
Of course, the beloved designer is no stranger to the Met Gala, with her previous appearances being alongside the likes of Janelle Monáe in 2024, Ariana Grande in 2018 and Selena Gomez in 2015.
As for Palmer, the multi-hyphenate revealed in conversation with Vogue on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet that Wang’s Dorothy Dandridge-inspired look “a little masculine with a feminine tribute.”
The ensemble consisted of a white tuxedo gown to play into the night’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which coincided with the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition.
“Pretty much just wanted to inhabit the tailoring but also the history of Black culture, fashion as a tool to enter spaces that often we’re not allowed,” Palmer said. “So that’s why I wanted to take the inspiration of Dorthy Dandridge — all the doors that she opened for us with fashion and beauty.”
Wang caught up with PEOPLE back in March about a new development in her career, as she expanded her partnership with Jared Jewelers with Vow, a collection of engagement and anniversary rings. A large part of the collection — complete with natural and lab-grown diamonds — was inspired by ring trends of the ’70s, she said.
“When I was young, there was a trend of women always wearing their engagement rings and their wedding bands, they were really just clipped in together so they fit perfectly,” she said. “I think as time went on, certainly women’s lifestyles changed. Even though you may treasure your engagement ring, which is of course symbolic in its own right, it didn’t mean necessarily you wanted to wear it every single day.”
