Pharrell, Louis Vuitton’s men’s creative director, told Carpenter, “You’re quite short so no pants for you”

Sabrina Carpenter is getting another “Taste” of the Met Gala!
On Monday, May 5, the pop star stepped out in New York City for fashion’s biggest night, where she wore a pantless Louis Vuitton bodysuit featuring a lengthy train.
The burgundy, tuxedo-style look came complete with glittery buttons and a white collar. Carpenter, 25, accessorized with plenty of diamonds — she wore necklaces, rings and even an anklet. She also paired the outfit with “super-high shoes,” which she described as a “staple for me in my life.”
As for who helped her bring the attire to life, Carpenter kept her answer Short n’ Sweet: “This is Pharrell,” she told Vogue of the Louis Vuitton men’s creative director.
“I’m such a massive fan of Pharrell’s and have been to the show and I was just like, ‘If I could go this year with him, that would be my dream.’ And it came true,” she said, adding that it was Pharrell’s idea to ditch the pants.
“He was like, ‘You’re quite short so no pants for you.’ So here we are. Here we are,” she said.
The singer-songwriter jokingly added that the night marked her third Met Gala look — but the first to solve a certain problem. “Never been to the bathroom once because I’ve never been able to use it in my outfit. So tonight might be the night,” she said. “We’ll see… And I’m just gonna let everybody know what it looks like. I’m sure it’s just a normal museum bathroom but I’m excited to find out.”
Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour are co-chairs for this year’s Met Gala, alongside LeBron James as honorary chair. The star-studded host committee includes Simone Biles, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Angel Reese, and Usher.
The event, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is a fundraiser for the Costume Institute and spotlights the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The dress code for this year is “Tailored for You.”
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton said the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”

Carpenter’s latest appearance at the Met Gala comes just a year after she and then-partner Barry Keoghan made their red carpet debut with coordinating looks.
For the “Garden of Time” theme, Carpenter wore a custom Oscar de la Renta gown. The strapless gown featured a mermaid bodice with a sweetheart neckline, as well as a light blue, cloud-like satin skirt. She paired it with her swept-up blonde hair, black platform heels and a statement necklace.
Keoghan wore an olive velvet Burberry velvet jacket with matching trousers.
“I feel so lucky,” Carpenter said of her look at the time. “Fernando [Garcia] was so incredible in helping us design this dress that pulls a lot from the story, The Garden of Time, but also just in general a lot of my favorite things. Like, this color blue is very in theme with my life, so I love it.”
Back in December, a source told PEOPLE that Carpenter and Keoghan had “decided to take a break.”
As for her first Met Gala look, Carpenter rocked a gilded Paco Rabanne gown.
At the time, she told Vogue that she was “peeing myself” over making her Met Gala debut. “I’m trying to be observant and take everything in,” Carpenter said at the time. “I’m feeling better now.”
Following her latest fashionable outing, Carpenter will be preparing for the continuation of her Short n’ Sweet tour — which recently announced additional fall North American dates. She’ll be joined by Amber Mark, Ravyn Lenae and Olivia Dean.
The tour kicks off on Oct. 23 in Pittsburgh, before hitting arenas in New York City, Nashville, Toronto, and Los Angeles — including three-night runs at both Madison Square Garden in N.Y.C. and the Crypto.com Arena in L.A. The tour concludes on Nov. 23.
