Kanye West didn’t hold back about his issues regarding custody of the four children he shares with ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
West, 47, went on a rant in a livestream from Wednesday, April 30, where he spoke out about allegedly not being able to see his kids: North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5.
“[DJ] Akademiks put that battery in my back, bro. ‘Cause I was in the airport by myself … I’mma go get these kids, man!” the rapper said, according to a video from Hollywood Unlocked. “I’mma go get these kids, bro. I’m talking to the lawyers — it gets to the point where I don’t lose my f***ing mind where I got to get used to not seeing my kids.”
West has been outspoken on social media about being at odds with Kardashian, 44, when it comes to their children. He previously compared their current custody agreement to “visitation” in “jail.”
“I DONT WANT TO JUST ‘SEE’ MY KIDS. I NEED TO RAISE THEM. I NEED TO HAVE SAY SO OF WEAR [sic] THEY GO TO SCHOOL AND WHO THEIR FRIENDS ARE AND WHOS [sic] HOUSES THEY SLEEP OVER WEATHER [sic] MY DAUGHTERS WEAR LIPSTICK AND PERFUME,” he wrote in a since-deleted post from March. “ALL THESE RIGHTS HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM ME BY THE KARDASHIAN MOB HULU AND DISNEY AND THE BIGGER AGENDA TO USE THE SELECTIVELY BRED BLACK CHILDREN TO BE PLATFORMS TO INFLUENCE BLACK PEOPLE.”
That same month, multiple sources told Us Weekly that Kardashian is “considering” filing for “full custody.” (The exes currently have joint physical and legal custody.)
“She is in a very tough position when she really has to coparent with him,” an insider shared. “Right now he is very distracted and she does not want to say anything bad about him, but the safety of her kids is what is [motivating this consideration].”
A second source noted to Us that Kardashian “is worried” that West’s online behavior could “create problems” for their kids.
West recently sparked concern when he posted antisemitic rants and now has continued to raise eyebrows by sharing a song with disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, which featured vocals from his and Kardashian’s eldest child, North. In addition to dropping “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine” in March, West shared an alleged text message exchange between him and his ex-wife, apparently revealing how Kardashian allegedly tried to stop the release of the song because of North’s trademarked name.

Kardashian and West tied the knot in 2014 and were married for seven years before the she filed for divorce in February 2021. The reality star previously opened up about the challenges of coparenting with her ex after their divorce was finalized in November 2022.
” I don’t want to get emotional, but it’s just been a day for me. It is hard. Coparenting is really f—ing hard,” Kardashian shared on the “Angie Martinez IRL” podcast in December 2022. “I had the best dad and the best experiences, and that is all I want for my kids. As long as they can have that, that is what I want for them.”
Kardashian spoke out about trying to prevent her children from seeing their father’s controversial and antisemitic social media posts, adding, “I definitely protected him, and I still will in the eyes of my kids. For my kids. So, in my home, my kids don’t know anything that goes on [in] the outside world. I am holding on by a thread. I know that I am so close to that not happening, but while it is still that way, I will protect that to the end of the Earth as long as I can. My kids don’t know anything.”
She continued: “It is [a full-time job]. It is worth it because I think that of course I want to disassociate in specific thoughts and things being said because that is not me. But at the same time in my home I could be going through something, but if we are riding to school and they want to listen to their dad’s music — no matter what we are going through — I have to have that smile on my face and blast his music and sing along with my kids. [I can] act like nothing is wrong and as soon as I drop them off, I can have a good cry.”
West, who is now married to Bianca Censori, has also discussed how he approached raising his kids with Kardashian.
“Even to this day, I’ll still give Kim advice on things that could help because that’s going to go to the kids,” he said on the “Alo Mind Full” podcast in September 2022. “She’s still got them 80 percent of the time, [to] raise those children. So what people saw when I was going back and forth is that I still have to be able to throw my version of what people would throw into the curriculum.”
