The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer, 63, called himself “a very imperfect man” in a message shared on Instagram on Sunday, May 11
Billy Ray Cyrus gave a Mother’s Day shout-out to ex-wife Tish Cyrus and all the important women in his life — and shared that his family is “so close to full healing.”
The country music star, 63, posted a message on Instagram on Sunday, May 11, in which he began by paying tribute to his mother and grandmother, writing that they “made our family who and what we are.”
He then called out his daughter Miley Cyrus, 32, noting that she brought her “wisdom and strength” to their family when they “needed it most,” seemingly referring to the rumored tensions within the family in recent years.
“We are so close to a full healing,” he added.
Later in his post, Billy Ray specifically mentioned Tish, 57, calling her “the very definition of a strong mother,” before adding that he is “the first to admit” that “being married to me was not easy.”
“I’m very good at making mistakes,” he wrote, describing himself as “a very imperfect man.”
Billy Ray and Tish married in December 1993 after meeting at a club in 1991. Tish filed for divorce from Billy Ray in April 2022 after almost 30 years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” at the time.
Billy Ray shared his Mother’s Day message just days after Miley posted a message of her own on Instagram Stories in which she cleared up “rumors” regarding her relationship with her mom after Tish appeared to unfollow the “Flowers” singer on Instagram.
“I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us,” Miley began her statement. “She’s my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental, and uninteresting.”
Miley went on to address her relationship with Billy Ray, acknowledging that the pair “have had our challenges over the years.”
“Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else,” Miley concluded her message. “I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.”
Earlier this year, a family source told PEOPLE that Miley, her parents and siblings wanted to leave the tensions in the past, explaining, “They got through the drama of 2024, and it’s a new year.”
“They don’t want to be this Cyrus family feud. This is not enjoyable for them,” the insider added.
